20th Century: Independence, Soviet Rule, and WWII

Independence and Modern Ukraine (1991-Present)

  • 2014: The Euromaidan protests ousted a pro-Russian president, leading to Russia’s annexation of Crimea and conflict in eastern Ukraine.
